유희열의 음악 세계란 프로그램에서 60을 바라보는 가수 인순이가 샤이니의 '링딩동'이란 노래를 춤과 함께 부른 것을 봤다. 나이가 무색하게 힘있는 댄스, 그러면서도 라이브로 힘있게 부르는 노래까지.
아이돌 그룹의 시간 떼우기용 노래가 새롭게 들린 경험.
하지만 아무리 훌륭한 가창력과 춤으로 포장해도 조악한 가사까지 바뀌는건 아니니...
결코 좋은 노래라는 생각은 들지 않았다.

2010년 말의 세시봉 열풍엔 흘러간 추억 탓도 있겠지만,
마치 시처럼 표현력이 돋보이는 가사들에 대한 향수도 작용한 것이 아닐까 싶다.
아직도 소위 언더그라운드라고 불리는 가수들에게서 해학, 풍자, 운율을 고려한 표현 등과 같은 가사들을 종종 만날 수는 있는거 같다,
하지만, 적어도 TV에 소개되는 오버그라운드 가수들에게서 더 이상 한번 더 생각할 만한 가사를
기대하기 힘들게 된거 같다.
미국 밴드 Blue october도 가사가 곡의 가치를 더 높여주는 밴드이다.
twilight 시리즈 작가인 meyer가 극찬했다던가....
적어도 가사에 있어서만은 눈에 띄는 밴드 중 하나라고 봐도 될 듯.
메시지 뿐이 아니라 표현력, 운율까지...
